For anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of trying one before, Alfajores are sandwiched biscuits filled with dulce de leche, an indulgent creamy caramel hand made from milk & sugar.
With origins in the Middle East, the Spaniards acquired their alfajor custom from the Moors & brought it to South America, where they are an institution.
Thankfully you don’t have to travel too far, or at all to try them. And you certainly don’t have to stand over a hot stove hand stirring milk for 3 hours to turn into Dulce de Leche… Because I’ve already done that for you. And trust me, it makes all the difference 🙂
